Download INAV

RubiQ comes pre-configured and almost-ready-to-fly. These settings can be verified and customized in INAV, an open source flight controller software. INAV is a Chrome extension, so you will need to have Chrome downloaded as a web browser. RubiQ’s with the red and black bullet motor connectors are only compatible with version 1.6.2 of the INAV – Configurator, which must be download directly from rubiq.edventures.com/file-downloads/. The version of the INAV configurator on the Chrome Web Store is incompatible with RubiQ.

There are two sets of instructions below. One for computers running Windows operating systems, and one for Mac OS X operating systems. Please use the set of instructions appropriate for your operating system.

For Windows devices:

1. Download the inav-configurator-1.6.2.crx_.zip file from rubiq.edventures.com/file-downloads, under the INAV – Configurator Download tab.

2. Navigate to the downloads folder of your computer or the folder to which your downloaded content is typically sent.

3. Find the downloaded ZIP file that begins with INAV configurator. Right-click the zipped folder icon and select “extract all.” This will bring up a sub-menu asking you to select a destination for the extracted files. Press the “extract” button at the bottom.

4. A new file window will appear with a folder containing a series of component files for INAV. Note the location of this folder and then close the window.

5. Start Chromium or Google Chrome. Click the three stacked dots in the top right corner and scroll to More Tools > Extensions, or enterchrome://extensions in the address bar.

6. Slide the Developer Mode toggle at the top right corner of the page to activate developer mode.

7. Press the Load unpacked button in the upper left of the page.

8. Navigate to the INAV configurator folder that you previously extracted and select the entire folder. Be sure that you are selecting the extracted folder and not the zipped folder (extracted folder will show as an open manila folder, while the zipped folder will have a vertical zipper on the icon). Single click on the folder, then press select folder (double-clicking will take you into the folder; do not double-click).

9. INAV – Configurator 1.6.2 will appear in the Chrome Extensions tab already open.

10. Navigate to your apps section by entering chrome://apps in the address bar, or by pressing the google waffle icon at the top of a new browser window. From there, click on the INAV icon to open INAV.

11. When first launched, INAV will ask if you would like to update. Do not update. Simply close this window and proceed. Updating to the current version of INAV will cause compatibility issues between RubiQ and INAV.

It is essential that you download VCP drivers, which facilitate the connection between RubiQ and your computer’s ports, directly from the following link:

Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10: https://www.silabs.com/documents/public/software/CP210x_Windows_Drivers.zip

1. Right-click the file and select “extract all,” this will bring up a sub-menu asking you to select a destination for the extracted files.

2. Press the “extract” option at the bottom. From there a new file window will appear containing multiple files.

3. Select the application file called CP210xVCPInstaller_x64 for 64-bit operating systems. If you have a 32-bit operating system, please select the application file called CP210xVCPInstaller_x86. (To determine if your PC is utilizing a 32 or 64-bit operating system, open your Control Panel > System > and look for the line item System Type. This will dictate if you are using a 32 or 64-bit OS.)

4. Proceed through the onscreen prompts and various windows until the installation is complete.

5. Once you’ve downloaded, unzipped and installed the driver, connect RubiQ to INAV.
